My "Field" of dreams

Why, why, why can't these be a little closer? I am in love with these three items from Patricia Field... I will keep staring at them until they are in my closet :)

First, the belt
When I saw it on Sex and the City, I had to have it and have searched high and low to find something similar - nadda! It's so, so, so gorgeous and so darn different - I haven't seen anything like it and I love how it can be worn in so many different ways.

Next, the jacket

and last, but certainly not least, this dress...

Found: Another Fabulous SA Fashion Blogger

I think it's so great that so many local gals are blogging about fashion... Fashion Jazz, Pippa Lynch, Kim Gray and Robyn Cooke are among my faves. I stumbled upon another fab African blogger, Nandi Mngonma.

Go check out her blog

I'm loving the blues...

Two blogs in one day... I'm catching up, but really, I do have a lot to say - what else is new? Lately, I have a slight (just a slight) obsession with Blue...

It started with this gorgeous pair of Electric blue Steve Madden Trinitie Platforms...

Which, I got as a gift from their lovely agency in South Africa. (They sent me a black pair as well, but it's all part of the perks of being a fashion editor heheh).

Seriously though, these heels are so comfy and the colour is so unique and amazing, Im actually too scared to wear them in case I mess them up. But on the other hand I cant wait to wear them and show them off!

Speaking of blue, what do you think of my blue nails?

This colour reminds me of bubble gum! I had to cut them shorter because long nails just looked weird this colour.. The shade is "GreenPort" by Essie

The super boot - can you go any higher?

First, I must apologise for not blogging more often, duty calls! However, you'll be pleased to know that I have been working on the October GLOSSY magazine and also giving StyleScoop a hot new look. Go check it out!

Sky high, over the knee boots are hot, hot, hot for Fall 2009/10, which means they will probably be super hot for us on the other side of the equator come July 2010. Remember that's around the same time as the World Cup Soccer here in sunny SA, so hopefully the international fashionista's will strut their stuff while their guys catch the game. Girls, please bring along all your fabulous shoes, I will gladly take them off your hands. I wear a size 39 or US 8 :-)

Anyway, back to the boots... how devilishly hot are these Bebe Fabiana boots?

Or these...

I found these babies via one of my favourite blogs - The Shoe Girl. They are by Stella McCartney and as you can see go way, way, way beyond the knee. They do make a flipping sexy, seamless tights/hot heel combo. I don't know if I'd wear them, but they look absolutely amazing!

That's them on the catwalk. You can't even tell they are shoes at first glance.

Now, something I would definitely wear and it fits in purrfectly with the whole versatility thing are these leather leg warmers from Fendi. Yes, I said it out loud - I love leg warmers, but only if they are hot as these...

Worn with the right shoes, which have got to be super high, concealed platforms, then these look ammmmmazing!

The first time I spotted them was in the Fendi ad in the September British Vogue. Model Jessica Stam looks amazing - that whole look...Sensational! I must have these!

By the way, apparently Chanel's front man Karl Lagerfeld was not only the creative director behind this campaign, but he photographed it too! Go Karl!!!

Friday fun

I happened to bump into this really awesome website called Looklet and had some fabulous, Friday fun putting together designer outfits in "real time"...

This is my floral with a "rock-chick" edge. I've actually been on the hunt for a studded belt and the perfect little floral dress or skirt to put a look like this together.

How sexy are those shoes?

I love this look for a night out - The dress is by Karen Miller and has a nice flash of purple - I love purple!
But it 's the back of this look that I really love! How gorgeous are those Alexander McQueen heels? I know.... I want them!

And a trend I am very drawn to at the moment is layering a long tank over a sexy black top, with simple black heels, black shades, some leather or wet-look pants and lots and lots of layered necklaces like this..

My babies...

Today when I went into Aldo, I couldn't control myself. Usually, I go in, see a pair of shoes I love, think about them, then go back, think about them again, and then decide if I'll get them or not - I want to be sure you know!? Now, I must admit oftentimes I leave the thinking a bit too long and before I know it someone else has zapped all the size sixes - one of the beauties of having a "common sized foot".

Well today, I walked in, spotted these babies and ...

Now they're mine!

I couldn't resist and can you honestly blame me? I mean they are H-O-T! Super high, super sexy, super comfy and just plain fabulous!

The only thing that remains is finding the perfect outfit and an excuse to wear them. But, they look great with jeans too, so I don't think they'll stay brand new for too long :)

New York, New York

You've just got to love New York (not that I've ever been, but that city calls me every day!).

Then again, what's not to love? In New York you get Times Square... Sex and The City..... Manhattans and Cosmopolitans... shopping and designer labels lining the streets. But there is also the most important event in the fashion calendar.... The Mercedes Benz New York Fashion week and it kicks off today!

Anyone who's anyone will be there to check out the upcoming Spring 2010 fashions from the top designers. It all goes down in Bryant Park today and the fashionista's get to indulge until the 17th September 2009.

Today's designers include Michael Angel, BCBG Max Zaria, Davidelfin, Duckie Brown, Mara Hoffmann, Nicholas K, Whitney Eve, Ports 1961 and Rosa Cha.

Lets see how it goes....

There's Gladiator and then there's Spartan

Gladiator heels are super hot and it looks as though they are going to hang around for a few seasons (YAY).

Now there's gladiators like these from Dior...

And then there's Spartans, like these new, very different heels from PRADA baby...

As spotted on the catwalk for Prada Fall 2009.

Rock me baby...

Lately I've been a bit obsessed with the whole rocker-edge look. Skulls are so hot right now and of course, lots and lots of barra-BLING!

I've even resorted to wearing my studded "heavy metal" leather bracelet from way back when, but this time round, wearing it with my "girly" bangle.

I also found this super hot ring from Sass Diva - It fits over two fingers - kinda like a knuckle-duster, but I wont be leaving my mark on any one's forehead :)

Gotta wear it with red nails!

My new favourite Nail Polish is "Red Tango" from Estee Lauder - Yum, YUM!

Good Hair Days...

Coming my way....

Check out the fabulous ghd shampoos, conditioners and treatments that arrived this morning... I've been dying to try out the Opulence Mask, so yay, I got it. Ill give you the verdict soon!

These are all for my October GLOSSY magazine feature on sexy, summer hair.

Gotta love my job :)

Obsessed with

Christian Louboutin booties...

This pair is so gorgeous!

Shoe Porn - Viktor & Rolf

Black and white and all things nice.... How incredibly whack are these Viktor & Rolf heels?

If you've ever seen a Viktor & Rolf fashion show, you'd know these guys love pushing the boundaries... Their whole show revolves around the artistry of the collection - the music is always a little haunted and trance-like and their models (and designs) always stand out.

Remember their Autumn/ Winter 2007/ 2008 runway show?

But anyways, back to the shoes. This pair of geometric pumps are certainly no exception to their wild style.

Here is a runway image from the Viktor & Rolf 2009 Spring Ready to wear collection featuring model Shalom Harlow.

How to do florals this season

Florals will always be spring/ summer staples, but forget about being frilly and hippie chic this summer. The trend for florals this season is to add rocker edge, like these fab ladies have done...

"Loops" on Chictopica
Loops is rocking the floral rock chic trend by adding a little "bad ass" to a cute floral skirt. Love, love, love her belt and the bag and gladiator heels finish it off nicely.

If you really want to make a statement check out The Glamourai's blog to see how she's worked this trend. Who said you can't mix prints?

And last but not least, you can always draw inspiration from Carrie...

You can actually buy "Carrie's belt" from Patricia Field item for $120 from her website. This belt is an exact replica of the vintage belt that SJP wore in the movie Sex and The City.

Rock & Heel

I love these heels by Rock & Republic. Who knew they made such sexy shoes?

You can get them from Zappos.com and they retail at around $200 (about R1528) - $2700 (about R2700) a pair.

Move over Beyonce

There's a new hottie in town and her name is Megan Fox.

The smokin hot, "Transformers" starlet is said to be replacing Beyonce as the new face of Armani. She's also been reported to take over Victoria Beckham's throne as the face of Armani's Underwear Line.

Madge dazzles in thigh-high Louboutins

In her latest music video for "Celebrations", Madonna has traded in her signature leotard for a super hot, dazzling Balmain dress, complete with studs and shoulder pads.

She's rocking this feisty number with a pair of sky high, Louboutin Supra Fifre thigh high boots...

The black suede, thigh high boots have a heel that measures at 4.5inches/ 120mm with a 0.5inch/ 10mm concealed platform and gold-toned buttons that fasten on the front.

They are available from Net-A-Porter for £1,565.76, which converts to R19 623!

Glorified diva

I've always been one to promote and support local designers, but I am getting slapped in the face with the harsh reality that certain local designers don't feel the same way about up and coming media.

It's quite ironic though, when they started out with only their sewing machine as their team, they expected the media to publish and promote their lines - which wasn't all that long ago! But now that more than one person knows who they are, they have moved to "instant diva status". Even their telephonists are walking around on cloud nine, because they have elevated themselves to a god-like status!

Despite being a digital magazine (and downright fabulous too) our readers also want to be trendy, they want to be stylish and they want to wear designer, and with so much talent in this country, we should be wearing local designers with the same pride that we wear, um Prada!

Sounds easy huh - After a phone call to one very arrogant, very snooty designer assistant AKA glorified diva, of whom I will rather not mention, I was basically told that they are featured in enough magazines and don't need more exposure. So I wonder, why bother working or for that matter answering your phone if you are just that cool? You might as well take up permanent residence on the beach, switch off your cellphone and let your clothes sell themselves.
