Being in the Southern Hemisphere we are always a season behind the latest fashions trends on the international circuit - AKA the big players - London, Paris, Milan and New York. But I wonder, is this a blessing or a curse?
Jean Paul Gaultier - Women's Collection Fall 2009/10
Sure, we can't wear the items hot off the runway, but we can get them on ebay when they are out of season there and very in season here. Ok, I don't know why I said ebay, I've never shopped there, but seriously think I should - hmmm?
The other downside is that we can't really "make the trends" per say. Yes, I know you can add your own little touch here and there, but chances are somewhere, someone in the Northern hemisphere has worked the trend, blogged about it and probably already thrown it out of her wardrobe or given it to charity, which means some poor, homeless person could be wearing your masterpiece - and you thought you were stylish.
On the plus side, we can see what's still hot a season ahead of time. Right now as we prepare to welcome summer, winter sales are everywhere. This is a great chance to see what items have still remained fashionably on trend and stock up on the sale items. The bonus, you get more bang for your buck, literally.
